About US

Founders Brody Barkan and Shai Goodman both have an immense amount of gratitude for running and the lessons they’ve learned on the track and in the trails.

Brody is a San Anselmo native who grew up running track at Archie Williams HS, competed as a miler in college and now takes to the trails running for West Valley Track Club. He also provides college counseling for high school athletes through his company, InStride Counseling.

Shai is an NYC transplant who came to find running later in life after concluding her college lacrosse career. The bulk of her professional experience has been rooted in the realm of sports— initially working in sports entertainment and management before pivoting into the critical studies of sports. She has an MA from UC Berkeley in the Cultural Studies of Sports in Education. Check out her podcast, “Physically Educated” on Spotify or Apple Music.

Both Brody and Shai’s lives have benefited significantly from running, and hope to extend their joy and spirit to the community at large. As life-long athletes and friends since their first week of college, Brody, Shai and a team of local volunteers look forward making the Marin Mile a yearly tradition.
